Alumni Evening at CHKD
CIVIC Class of 2026 Welcome Event
CIVIC Leadership Institute hosted the Welcome Event for the CIVIC Class of 2026 on September 17th in the Virginia Arts Festival’s Robert Hixon Theater. CIVIC Alumni joined us to welcome the incoming CIVIC Class and to reconnect with their fellow alumni. We were honored to hear from panelists Ron Lauster ’18, Joseph Fahim Scholars Class of ’20, Tonya Byrd ’23, and Dr. Charles L. Stuppard ’24 about their CIVIC journeys.
CIVIC Alumni Service Project
CIVIC Leadership Institute alumni supported the YMCA of South Hampton Roads’ Great Bridge/Hickory Family YMCA location with a lobby refresh! CIVIC Alum received a tour of the facility from YMCA of South Hampton Roads District Vice President Dean Mattix, then worked together to assemble new furniture for the lobby’s family lounge space to create a space where individuals and families can connect.

Congratulations to the CIVIC Class of 2025 on completing the CIVIC Executive Program!
Founders’ Luncheon
The 2025 Founders’ Luncheon was held on May 15th at The Westin Virginia Beach Town Center and honored Cathy Lewis, the recipient of the inaugural Founders’ Honoree award, for her incredible contributions to CIVIC and the Hampton Roads region. The Best Class Ever was also announced, with the trophy being awarded to the CIVIC Class of 2024! We are so incredibly grateful for their extraordinary support and generosity.
